Travel Tips, Rules & Packing

A jungle safari comes with its own set of strict rules and packing requirements.

Best Time to Visit

March to June is the absolute best time for tiger sightings, as the cats frequently come to the rivers to drink water. November to February is excellent for spotting migratory birds. Note that from July to October, most core zones are closed due to monsoons (only Jhirna and Dhela remain open).

Jungle Rules

  • Do NOT wear bright-colored clothing; blend in with earthy tones (khaki, olive, brown).
  • Do NOT wear strong perfumes or deodorants.
  • You are strictly prohibited from getting out of your vehicle inside the park.
  • Keep quiet! Loud noises will scare away the wildlife.
  • No littering or feeding the animals.

What to Pack

  • Binoculars and a good zoom camera
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses, and full-sleeve clothing to protect from the sun
  • Mosquito repellent (Odomos)
  • A dust-proof bag for your electronics (open jeeps get very dusty)
  • Jackets and caps if visiting in the winter (the morning safaris are freezing!)

You are playing the game of the jungle. It's an open forest and animals migrate freely. Whether you spot the tiger or not, listening to the alarm calls of the deer in the deep silence of the forest is an unmatched thrill.
