If you only have 48 hours to pack it all in, having a solid game plan is essential. Based on the fantastic travel vlog by JJ Extra, we have crafted the ultimate 2-day Toronto itinerary. From ferrying across Lake Ontario to uncovering the best fish tacos in the city, here is everything you need to do.
We Spent 2 Days In Toronto & Found All The Best Places To Visit
Day 1: Markets, Museums & Street Art
- St. Lawrence Market (Breakfast): Start your day early at this historic market. Head straight to Carousel Bakery for a classic Toronto staple: the Peameal Bacon Sandwich. Don't forget to grab an almond pretzel from Future Bakery and a coffee from Everyday Gourmet Coffee Roasters.
- Old Town Toronto & Flatiron: Take a walk through Old Town to admire the architecture. Stop by Berczy Park (famous for its dog fountain) and check out the historic Gooderham Building (Toronto's Flatiron Building).
- Union Station & The ROM: Step inside the beautiful marble halls of Union Station before hopping on the incredibly clean subway (Line 1) to Museum Station. Spend the late morning exploring the massive Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), featuring everything from towering dinosaur skeletons to ancient totems.
- Kensington Market (Lunch): Head to this hip, trendy neighborhood that feels like London's Camden Town. Stop at Seven Lives Tacos for unbelievable Baja fish and pork carnitas tacos. For dessert, wander into Chinatown to Dango Cake Lab for adorable, animal-shaped macarons.
- Graffiti Alley & Nathan Phillips Square: Walk off lunch by exploring Graffiti Alley, an entire street dedicated to incredible urban art. End your afternoon at Nathan Phillips Square to snap a photo with the iconic glowing 'Toronto' sign.
- Dinner at Mill Street Brewery: Relax after a long day of walking at this popular brewpub in the Distillery District, known for its great craft beers (try the Mango Magic Wheat Beer) and excellent pub food.
Day 2: Island Escapes & Sky-High Views
- Toronto Islands: Take the morning ferry across Lake Ontario to Centre Island. Instead of walking, download the 'Toronto Bike Share' app to rent bikes and explore the sprawling island paths.
- Island Cafes & Beaches: Cycle over to the Runaway Cafe (a cute pink caravan) for a coffee, then check out Ward's Island Beach. Yes, it's a lake, but it looks exactly like the ocean!
- Lunch with a View: Stop at the Toronto Island BBQ & Beer Co. Grab a half-smoked chicken, a Molson Canadian lager, and enjoy the unparalleled view of the Toronto skyline across the water.
- Centreville Amusement Park: Before heading back to the mainland, walk through this charming island amusement park. It is free to enter! Buy a few tickets to ride the Sky Ride (chairlift) and the miniature train.
- The CN Tower at Sunset: Take the ferry back and walk along the waterfront to the CN Tower. Book your tickets for about an hour before sunset. You will get to see the city in daylight, watch the sunset, and see the city light up at night. (Tip: Upgrade your ticket to visit 'The Top' observation deck—30 stories higher than the main deck!)
Essential Travel Tips
- Subway System: The Toronto Subway (TTC) is incredibly clean, smooth, and easy to navigate. You can buy tickets easily at automated kiosks in the stations.
- Bike Sharing: Using the city's Bike Share app on the Toronto Islands is often cheaper and faster than waiting in line at the private island rental shops.
- CN Tower Timing: The absolute best time to go up the CN Tower is right before sunset. It gives you two entirely different views of the city for the price of one ticket.
“Coordinating island ferries, timing your CN Tower ascent for sunset, and mapping out the best taco spots can be overwhelming. Let TravelTalk24 organize your Canadian adventure seamlessly.”
