Often overshadowed by its glitzy neighbor, the UAE, Oman is a hidden gem that prioritizes rich tradition, spectacular natural landscapes, and some of the warmest hospitality in the world. If you want to experience the Middle East beyond skyscrapers and extravagant malls, this 5-day travel guide covers everything from majestic mosques to desert dunes.

Day 1-2: Immersed in Muscat's Architecture & Flavors

Start your adventure in Oman’s capital, Muscat. The architecture here is grounded in tradition and deeply rooted faith, offering a serene and beautiful introduction to the country.

• Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque: Constructed from 300,000 tons of Indian sandstone, this mosque features intricate carvings and a highly intentional use of color. It is a stunning architectural masterpiece.
• Mutrah Corniche & Fort: Walk along the beautiful waterfront of the Mutrah Corniche. Though it can be hot, climbing up to the 16th-century Mutrah Fort (built by the Portuguese) is worth it for the 360-degree views of the city, mountains, and the bay.
• Mutrah Souq: Dive into the traditional market for souvenirs. Prepare for some friendly but enthusiastic haggling with the vendors!

Culinary Highlights: Do not miss a traditional Omani meal. Try 'Shuwa'—slow-cooked, marinated goat served with spiced rice that literally melts in your mouth. Day 3: The Oasis of Wadi Shab

• The Swim: Eventually, the trail ends and you must swim up the river to proceed. The water is incredibly blue and surrounded by towering canyon walls.
