London is iconic. It is the center of British culture, home to the royal monarchy, the financial hub of Europe, and one of the most visited cities in the world. As a historic, charming, and highly multicultural mega-city, it boasts world-class theater, music, and an unreal culinary scene.
Because London is sprawling and massive, you will never see it all in one trip. However, with some careful planning, you can experience the absolute best it has to offer. Based on the amazing travel vlog by Eat See TV, we have crafted the perfect 5-day London itinerary focusing on iconic landmarks, hidden gems, and unforgettable dining experiences.
London Done Right: The BEST 5 Day Vacation
Where to Stay & Getting Around
- Accommodation: Hotels in London are not cheap. To balance location, comfort, and value, consider staying near Hyde Park. For example, the Best Western Mornington Hotel in Hyde Park is just a 10-minute walk from Paddington Station.
- Getting Around: The Tube (Underground) is fast, highly connected, and affordable. From Paddington Station, you have access to the Heathrow Airport Express and the Elizabeth Line. If there happens to be a Tube strike, rely on rented bikes (like Lime or Santander) or walking, as taxis and Ubers will be heavily backed up.
Days 1 & 2: Classics, Views & Food Markets
- Traditional Breakfast: Start your first morning with a proper Full English Breakfast—beans, bacon, huge sausage, toast, fried eggs, and hash browns.
- River Thames Cruise: Rest your feet and get the lay of the land by taking a 1-hour boat cruise from Westminster Pier to see Big Ben, the London Eye, St. Paul's Cathedral, and the Tower Bridge.
- Greenwich & Sky Garden: Stop at Greenwich to see the Prime Meridian line. Later, head to the Sky Garden (book weeks in advance!) for free, 360-degree panoramic sunset views of the city.
- Borough Market: On Day 2, visit London's most famous and oldest food market. Go early and come hungry! Must-tries include the sausage rolls from Ginger Pig, fresh pasta from La Tua, and the award-winning slow-roast pork sandwich from The Black Pig.
- Tower of London: After lunch, visit this historic fortress to see the breathtaking Crown Jewels and learn about its dark history.
Days 3 to 5: Magic, Museums & High Tea
- Harry Potter Studios Tour: Dedicate half a day to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour (an hour outside London). Walk the actual sets, see the original props, and uncover the magic behind the films. A must-do for fans and non-fans alike.
- Museums & Culture: Spend time at the British Museum (book a timed ticket) to see the Rosetta Stone. Walk across the Millennium Bridge and visit the Tate Modern.
- Buckingham Palace & Parks: Stroll through Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens, walking all the way down to Buckingham Palace. (Tip: Skip the crowded Changing of the Guards to actually get close to the gates).
- Proper Afternoon Tea: Indulge in a classic afternoon tea experience. We recommend the Ham Yard Hotel for an impeccable spread of savory sandwiches, warm scones with clotted cream, and delicate pastries.
- West End: End your trip walking through the neon-lit Piccadilly Circus and catch a world-class theater production in the West End.
