How to Reach & Crucial Driving Tips

Chakrata is best explored in your own private vehicle, as local transport options are limited and many sights require off-roading or driving down narrow lanes.

By Car (Recommended): Drive from Delhi via the Saharanpur route. The roads are generally in good condition but become steep and narrow as you ascend into the mountains.
By Bus/Train: The nearest major station is Dehradun. From Dehradun, you can take local buses or taxis to Chakrata, as there are no direct buses from Delhi.
Fuel Up Early! The HP petrol station (and a Reliance station 1.5 km before it) just outside Chakrata is the LAST gas station. Make sure you fill your tank here, as there are no petrol pumps near the remote tourist spots.
